What to Expect at My Zion Yoga Retreat

If you've never been on a yoga retreat before, you might be wondering what a weekend like this actually looks like.

How much yoga is there?
What do you do when you're not practicing?
Do you need to know anyone?
And what if you're not someone who wants to spend four days doing yoga from sunrise to sunset?

I've got you.

Our magical space right inside Zion National Park

My Zion retreat is designed to be a long weekend where we can step away from our normal routines, spend time outside, move our bodies, slow down, and reconnect with ourselves and each other.

We’re heading to…

True North, a secluded 10-acre property located within Zion National Park.
For four days together January 28–31, 2027.

The property itself is pretty incredible, with walking paths, mountain and red rock views, a hot tub, a cozy great room with a wood-burning fireplace, and plenty of little places to wander off and enjoy some quiet.

Arriving & Settling In

Thursday is intentionally a little slower. You'll arrive around 4pm, get settled into your room, unpack, meet the other people joining us, and have some time to take in the property. We're not jumping immediately into a packed schedule. We'll have a welcome dinner together before settling into our first evening practice with restorative yoga and yin. It's your chance to exhale, get comfortable, & let yourself realize: I'm here. I actually made it. I get to be here for the next few days.

Mornings Begin With Yoga & Intention

Our mornings will begin with an all-levels yoga practice, followed by meditation. You do not need to be an advanced yogi to come on this retreat. You don't need to be able to touch your toes, do a handstand, or have a perfectly consistent yoga practice. You just need to be willing to show up.

My goal is to create practices that give you somewhere to land in your body, sometimes through movement and a little challenge, and sometimes through slowing way, way down. After practice, we'll have breakfast and then the day opens up.

& Then…You Have Time

This is one of my favorite parts of retreats.

You don't have to do everything.

There will be planned experiences throughout the weekend, but I don't want to fill every single hour just because we can. True North gives us so many ways to enjoy the space. You might take a walk along the property, sit outside with a book, spend some time journaling, soak in the hot tub, hang out in the great room, or simply stare at the mountains for a while.

“Doing nothing” is absolutely allowed.

I think we're so used to making every minute productive that sometimes we forget how good it feels to have nowhere else to be.

Please catch me hanging out in the grand room.

Time Outside & A Little Adventure

We're in Zion National Park, so naturally, we're going to take advantage of being surrounded by some pretty incredible landscape. There will be opportunities to get outside, explore, and spend time in nature together.

One of the things I'm most excited about with this retreat is that we're not just staying near Zion, True North is actually tucked into the landscape of the park, up on the Kolob Terrace Plateau, about a mile high and surrounded by red rock formations, open meadows, and mountain views. From the property, you'll have views toward Tabernacle Dome, Lamb's Knoll, Cave Valley, Heavenly Valley, and Smith Mesa.

And one of the special experiences planned for this retreat is horseback riding through Zion. The exact details of our schedule will come together as we get closer to the retreat, but adventure is definitely part of the weekend.

Workshops, Reflection & More Than Just Yoga

Evenings Are For Slowing Down

After a full day of movement, adventure, food, and time outside, we'll come back together for dinner and an evening practice. Expect yin, restorative movement, meditation, and plenty of time to unwind. Some nights you might want to head straight to bed.

Other nights you might find yourself sitting around the table talking long after dinner, soaking in the hot tub, reading by the fire, or looking up at the stars. There isn't really a “right” way to spend the evening.

What About the People?

This is probably one of the biggest questions people have when they're considering a retreat:

“What if I don't know anyone?” You won't be the only one. People come to retreats for all kinds of reasons, and some arrive knowing someone while others arrive completely on their own. I can't promise you'll leave with a whole new group of lifelong best friends because that's not something I can manufacture.

But I can create the space for people to connect.

Meals together.
Yoga together.
Laughing over something ridiculous.
Walking outside.
Sharing stories.
Sitting quietly in the same room
.

Sometimes connection happens during the things we planned.

And sometimes it happens in the moments in between.

What Will You Actually Leave With?

Hopefully, not a suitcase full of things you bought at the retreat. 😉 I'm hoping you leave with something a little more useful.

Maybe it's the reminder that you actually enjoy slowing down. Maybe it's a yoga practice that feels different than when you arrived. Maybe it's a new perspective you've been needing. Maybe it's a few new people in your life. Maybe it's simply four days where you weren't rushing from one thing to the next.

I don't want to promise that a weekend in Zion will “change your life.”

That's not really how I see retreats.

Instead, I think giving yourself the time and space to step away from your normal routine can help you notice things you haven't had the bandwidth to notice.

And sometimes, that's enough.

Your Weekend In Zion

From the moment you arrive at True North, my hope is that you feel like you can take a breath.

We'll practice yoga.
We'll eat good food.
We'll get outside.
We'll explore.
We'll rest.
We'll have conversations.
We'll have quiet moments.

And we'll make space for whatever this particular weekend brings.

That's what I'm creating with Return to Yourself not a perfectly scheduled wellness weekend, but an experience that gives you room to reconnect with yourself, your practice, nature, and the people around you.

And honestly? I can't wait to share Zion with you.
